Richard Caink’s sculpture is a giant carved picture frame measuring 4.8 metres high and 6 metres wide. Framing the picturesque view along the Irwell Valley, the sculpture refers to traditional landscape painting of the 18th & 19th Century, often used to display land ownership.

You’ll find carvings along the footpath half submerged as though found through an archaeological process. These relate to the local industry and in particular the loom-wreckers rebellion of 1826 at Chatterton Mill, where three people were shot after protests about the introduction of a powered loom.
